My name is Paul Griffin, and I have Asperger’s Syndrome. I am here to tell you about how I’ve refused to let that diagnosis keep me from achieving my dreams and show you how you, too, can have Success on the Autism Spectrum.

People told my parents that I’d never learn to read and write. I did. They told me that I would not be in a mainstream classroom. I was. They said I would not complete Middle School and then High School. I graduated both, and going beyond even my own estimations of what I could do, I graduated college from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a degree in Sociology.

I learned that what matters is not what those who doubt you say. What really matters is that you have people who believe in you, and that you always believe in yourself.

My life’s goal is to spread this message of hope, of believing in yourself, through speaking in classrooms and to Autism conferences. I am always looking to talk to new people, those with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and their families, and to point them to the resources that contributed to my success. Invite me speak to you and those you know with autism, so that we can have more and more stories of Success on the Autism Spectrum™!
